Choosing songs for a wedding can be tricky. Some couples prefer romantic tracks to celebrate their nuptials, while others want tasteful, PG-13 dance music appropriate for all family members, but if you’re Sisqo, you play what you know.

You go for the “Thong Song.”

The Baltimore-born R&B singer married his longtime love and mother of his children, Elizabeth Pham, Friday in St. Paul, Minn., and at his reception, he performed his 1999 scandalous hit “Thong Song,” according to Minneapolis reporter and anchor Delane Cleveland.

“It was fantastic,” tweeted Cleveland, who stated in a Facebook message to The Baltimore Sun that he went to high school with Pham in Minneapolis.

Footage obtained by The Baltimore Sun from a source at the wedding showed Sisqo performing a lively choreographed rendition of the “Thong Song,” which included a fast-paced, almost Baltimore Club-like dance break.

“I initially sang ‘Thong Song’ about the first thong that I ever saw, so it was only right to sing it about the last one I will ever see… in private, that is,” Sisqo stated in an email to The Baltimore Sun, with directions to “insert wink.”

The wedding proved to be a night of performances. Sisqo serenaded his wife with fellow members of R&B group Dru Hill with their song “Beauty,” and Pham and her bridesmaids did a dance routine to a compilation of tracks by Beyonce. Sisqo and Pham also danced together to “Spend My Life With You” by Eric Benet and Tamia.

Sisqo’s representatives did not immediately respond to emailed requests from The Baltimore Sun, but Twitter has proved that a song about a pair of panties and backsides (“Baby I know you want to show … That thong thong thong thong thong”) isn’t that far-fetched or outrageous for a reception.

Several Twitter users have stated that they would request the song either at their own wedding or someone else’s. Some would even go as far as having the song as their first dance.

“I'm gonna play Sisqo's ‘Thong Song’ at my wedding, I hope my wife doesn't leave me,” tweeted one user.

“If Thong Song by Sisqo isn't played at the next wedding/family event I go to, there's a good chance I don't wanna be there,” stated another.

It seems like Sisqo had the right idea.
