The Cars lead singer Ric Ocasek and his wife, supermodel Paulina Porizkova, have split after almost 30 years of marriage, according to a post on Porizkova's Instagram account.
Ocasek, a Baltimore native, and Porizkova have been separated for the past year, she wrote.
"Ric and I have been peacefully separated for the past year," she wrote. "The photos of our happy family are, in fact, happy family photos; we are just no longer a couple."
"The love we have for one another is so wide and deep it's practically intangible, and that sort of love can never disappear," she continued. "Expect to keep seeing happy family photos."
The couple have been married for almost 30 years after meeting in 1984 when she appeared in the music video for The Cars' song "Drive." They have two sons.
Ocasek and his band were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame a few weeks ago.
The singer was born Richard Otcasek and grew up in Baltimore before moving to Cleveland when he was 16. He appeared in John Waters' 1988 movie "Hairspray," playing the Beatnik Cat.
