“We’ve brought in a trio of siblings, Armani, Maybelline, and Clementine, sisters Java Bean and Mia, as well as Midge, Hoover and Lieutenant,” Erin Cantwell, mammal collection and conservation manager, said in the release. “They each have a fun colorful coat pattern, and we are excited for folks to come visit them.”

Second giraffe dies at Baltimore zoo this year

The Maryland Zoo announced the death of five-year-old giraffe Juma.

The additions come after news this week that a second giraffe had died at the Baltimore zoo this year. A 5-year-old female named Juma died this week from an undetermined illness, and a male calf named Julius was euthanized in July.

Baltimore Sun reporter Jessica Anderson contributed to this article.
