The National Aquarium is home to three new puffin chicks.Gnocchi, Viola and Willow were born this summer on July 6, July 9 and Aug. 10, respectively. Since the aquarium began breeding puffins in 2006, it has not had three hatchlings in a single season.The three are the 10th, 11th and 12th puffins to arrive at the aquarium. They will spend more than a month burrowing with their parents and emerge for public viewing after 45 days.Willow, the most recent puffling to hatch, hatched after a 38-day incubation period and weighted 39 grams.
