When it comes to Halloween, Baltimore is among the best in the nation.
According to Zillow's Trick-or-Treat Index, which ranks the 20 best cities to trick or treat in the nation, Charm City is sixth best—beating out neighboring Washington, D.C. and bigger cities like Dallas, Chicago, Denver Boston and New York.
San Francisco topped the list with San Jose, Philadelphia, Long Beach and Los Angeles rounding out the top five. Baltimore moved up six spots from last year's list.
"Searching for neighborhoods with the best candy is a Halloween tradition for many kids and their parents," said Zillow Chief Economist Dr. Svenja Gudell, in a prepared statement. "Our annual list is a fun way for families to see how their neighborhood stacks up against others when it comes to trick-or-treating. These are places we think will have plenty of candy and lots of young kids running around from door to door. If you don't live in one of these cities, look for areas that are getting into the Halloween spirit with decorations and lots of costumed kids."
Zillow's economists comprised the list of the top 20 cities across the country where kids can get the best candy in the shortest amount of time by weighing three factors: median home value, housing density among single-family homes and share of population under 10 years old.
The list also goes as far as showing the top five neighborhoods in Baltimore to get candy. Patterson Park, Patterson Place, Upper Fells Point, Highlandtown and Butcher's Hill were ranked the best using Zillow's formula.
