'America's Next Top Model' contestant Isis King to host fashion-themed brunch in Baltimore this Sunday

Trailblazing model Isis King will host a fashion-themed brunch in Baltimore on Sunday at Encantada, the restaurant in the American Visionary Arts Museum.

Tickets for “Brunch In Fashion” are $35, and include food and bottomless cocktails made with Avion tequila. There will also be a fashion presentation, according to organizer Lana Rae.

King, who in 2008 became the first transgender model to compete on Tyra Banks’ reality show “America’s Next Top Model,” has continued to remain a fixture in the fashion world.

In addition to coming back to the series in 2011 to compete on the “All Star” season, the Prince George's County native starred in “Strut,” the Whoopi Goldberg-produced reality show on Oxygen, in 2016.

King has also dabbled with designing women’s clothing and working as a makeup artist. King also continues to work as a professional model appearing in fashion shows for designers such as Betsey Johnson and Chromat.

“I think it is amazing to see how she has taken something that used to be so taboo and turned it into pure inspiration to other transgender people around the world,” said Rae, who has worked with King for various fashion-related events in the past. “She’s so talented, versatile and beautiful. And most importantly, she’s doing it all with so much class.”

Meet Isis King at a “Brunch In Fashion,” noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at the American Visionary Arts Museum, 800 Key Highway. Tickets are $35 at Brunchinfashion.eventbrite.com
