The last time we wrote about Kimberly Smedley she was being sent to prison after nearly killing a Baltimore stripper with an unsanitary -- and illegal-- injection of butt-plumping silicone.

Now Smedley is back-- and she's rebranded herself as a "distinguished motivational speaker" and the author of a memoir about her "personal journey into the black market butt injection scandal."

The book is titled, "The Backside of the Story."

Smedley, an Atlanta resident, was sentenced to three years in federal prison in 2012, The Sun's Justin Fenton reported at the time.

For nearly a decade, Smedley had traveled the country with hypodermic needles and jugs of silicone, offering injections for women looking to enhance their derrieres.

Smedley purchased thousands of gallons of silicone from stores such as Home Depot and Lowes and charged her clients as much as $1,600 for an injection, according to court papers.

A stripper on The Block accused Smedley of causing her serious harm after the silicone traveled to her lungs.

According to a news release, Smedley has been released from prison and is "remorseful for her actions."

"In her book, she vividly narrates her journey through the world of illegal butt injections and also mentions famous clients who she 'serviced' during the years," the release says.

On her website, Smedley touts campaigns to boost self-esteem.
