Wes Moore to host monthly show on WYPR starting this week

Baltimore native and best-selling author Wes Moore will host a new hour-long monthly program called &quot;Future City&quot; on Baltimore's NPR news station WYPR 88.1 FM beginning this Wednesday.Moore, a veteran who also founded BridgeEdU, a program that helps transition high school students into college, will explore the best practices used to solve and alleviate problems in cities across the country, according to the station president, Tony Brandon. Through Moore's conversations with experts and urban leaders, he will examine how these same practices can be applied in Baltimore.&quot;I think people will benefit from hearing this, and hopefully they will participate in the dialogue and what the show brings to the city,&quot; Brandon said.The Baltimore Community Foundation along with Genine and Josh Fidler, who have made donations to the Democratic Party and President Barack Obama in previous campaigns, will help underwrite the costs of the show.Josh Filder, a &quot;progressive pragmatist&quot; who serves on the foundation board along with Moore, said he has come to admire and rely on Moore's perspective. It prompted him to help with the costs of the show.&quot;I'm very eager to spur discussion of practical solutions of what ails our city, and ... I thought that it would be a wonderful match to enable us to study what's going on right around the country and use all the resources of WYPR to do the research and enable Wes to comment on that process,&quot; Fidler said.The show will air the third Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. and again at 9 p.m., and will also be available on the WYPR website.
