Welcome back to This Week in Black Twitter, your weekly digest of the happenings on Black Twitter and cultural conversations on the web. Topics will span the gamut — with pop culture, politics, sports, lifestyles and everything in between. This week: The internet makes fun of Stephen Curry's new shoe, voters express their reluctance to support Hillary Clinton with #GirlIGuessImWithHer and users tweet their #ControversialCaribbeanOpinions.
1. Stephen Curry hasn't had it easy lately. First his subpar play in the NBA Finals, and now the internet is making fun of his #Curry2.
After Under Armour released photos of the Curry Two Low "Chefs" sneaker, which costs $119.99, users were quick to point out that the shoes looked more suitable for a mall walker who wears dad jeans than the NBA's Most Valuable Player.
People even started renaming it.
At least y'all won't have a problem finding a Father's Day gift this year.
2. On Tuesday night, Hillary Clinton made history as the first woman to lead a major political party as the presidential nominee. However, not everyone was cheering about this historic milestone.
Clinton securing the delegates needed leaves Bernie Sanders and his supporters out in the dust. With the presidential election shaping up to be Clinton versus Donald Trump, even Clinton's critics feel the need to support her to ensure Trump doesn't become president.
"I was torn — here I am proud to see a woman breaking barriers, but almost hopeless because I just don't believe her," Alisha Stewart wrote on The Hill.
"How can I fully support and not challenge a woman who backed her husband's 1994 crime bill, accusing Black men of being 'super-predators' and who set her foot down to deny retroactivity to those serving sentences for crack and cocaine?"
Users like Stewart found solace in #GirlIGuessImWithHer.
But some Sanders fans were determined to stay loyal, tweeting #GirlIGuessImNotWithHer.
