Toyota on Sunday played host to a Sobotka family reunion, as the actors who portrayed the family from Season 2 of "The Wire" appeared together in two Super Bowl commercials for the Prius.

Chris Bauer (Frank Sobotka), Pablo Schreiber (Nick Sobotka) and James Ransone (Ziggy Sobotka) played bank robbers who used the 2016 Prius as a getaway car in the commercials. (The fourth actor in the commercial, Matt Maher, never appeared in "The Wire." But we're sure he's a fine actor, anyway.)

On "The Wire," the Sobotkas worked on the city's declining waterfront. Patriarch Frank is the secretary-treasurer for the local longshoremen's union, while nephew Nick and son Ziggy also work on the docks.

(You might remember Ziggy as the guy who once brought a seeing-eye duck to a bar.)

David Simon, creator of "The Wire," tweeted: "Kudos to the Sobotka clan of South Baltimore. You can't keep good men down."

Contacted Monday morning, Simon said he was caught unawares by the unheralded "Wire" reunion. "I watched it like everyone else and I was amused as many were," he wrote in an email. "I had no prior knowledge of anything, not even from the actors with whom I stay in touch. It made for a fun surprise."

Similarly delighted "Wire" fans on Sunday wasted no time expressing their glee on Twitter:

The Wire ‏@WireFans: "They really got the whole Sobotka family back together for a Super Bowl commercial. Absolutely amazing."

Lauren Mc ‏@laurannmick: #TheWire Fangirl moment. Frank, Nick, and Ziggy Sobotka were just in a Prius commercial. Night made. #SB50

The commercial was directed by Lance Acord (whose credits include handling the cinematography for director Sofia Coppola's 2003 "Lost In Translation"). It was created by Saatchi & Saatchi LA and shot last year in Los Angeles (November) and Chicago (December).
