Season 2 of Serial is now available for fans of the popular podcast series.
The audio was made available early Thursday at SerialPodcast.org, as well as on iTunes and Pandora. After the first edition of the podcast took a deep dive into a Baltimore County case, Season 2 will focus on the story of Bowe Bergdahl, the American soldier captured by the Taliban in 2009.
A post at 6:15 a.m. Thursday by creator Sarah Koenig read: "Hello, everyone. We're back. Yes, at last! We've launched Season Two."
"Serial," which was created by Koenig — This American Life producer and former Baltimore Sun reporter — shattered records when it was released last fall, becoming the most popular podcast of all time.
The new stories are "very different from Season One, but no less interesting to us," the producers wrote when revelations about a new season began to emerge earlier this year.
Season One focused on the 1999 murder of Hae Min Lee, a star student at Woodlawn High School in Baltimore County. The producers examined the case against Adnan Syed, a fellow student and ex-boyfriend of Lee, who was convicted and sentenced to life plus 30 years for Lee's murder.
