The web has been buzzing in recent days over Janay Rice's supposed remarks on Twitter.

The account @JanayRice responded to reports of photos of a Halloween costume in which a man dressed in a Ray Rice jersey dragged a life-size doll.

It was a reference, of course, to the videotape showing the former Raven knocking his then-fiancee unconscious and dragging her limp body from an Atlantic City elevator.

An even-more disturbing photo showed a man in black face wearing a Rice jersey, accompanied by a woman in black face with a black eye.

Her remarks were quoted by The Daily Mail, Vibe and even the Washingon Post.

Thing is, Janay Rice says, she did not tweet that.

The Towson University alum posted a statement on her Instagram account -- which previously has been verified -- saying she did not have a Twitter account. (See photo above.)

So feel free to talk about how disturbing those costumes are.   Talk about why people would make light of domestic violence.

But don't quote Janay Rice on the subject.  She has not spoken.
