Update: A Zappos spokeswoman said Friday afternoon that Zappos has chosen a winner and will instead pick up the winner and their guest from their home, and take them backstage of the concert at M&T Bank Stadium. There, they will meet DJ Khaled, who will give them their package and the two concert tickets.
Social media maven and hip-hop star DJ Khaled, known for dropping motivational statements and #majorkey wisdom tidbits on Snapchat, will be opening for Beyonce's Formation Tour on Friday at M&T Bank Stadium, and just hours before the concert, he'll be knocking on one resident's door.
The DJ has teamed with online retailer Zappos.com to host a six-city contest that ends in him hand-delivering the winner's previously ordered package and two concert tickets. Baltimore is his fifth stop, and he'll be announcing the contest on his Snapchat Thursday night, according to a Zappos spokeswoman.
Baltimore residents can enter for a chance to win the meet and greet and personal delivery from the DJ by placing an order on Zappos.com and sending either a direct message to Zappos on Snapchat or an email with the subject "DJ Khaled Sweeps Entry" to awareness@zappos.com. All entries must be in before 10 a.m. Eastern time Friday and should confirm whether the recipient will be home at the time of delivery, according to the spokeswoman.
Four fans in different cities have received the special delivery by Khaled as a part of the six-city contest, which is a way for Zappos and DJ Khaled to give back to their shared fans, and to celebrate same-day delivery, a concept that Zappos hopes to launch in the near future, according to Zappos spokeswoman.
"I'm blessed to be able to see my Baltimore fans and am so thankful for the opportunity to be in Baltimore with Beyoncé. Can't wait to surprise a fan with their Zappos package and tickets to the show," Khaled wrote in an email to The Baltimore Sun.
Khaled also said Formation Tour-goers and the contest winners are in for a treat.
"I have 30 minutes, and I tear it down legendary. The minute I come on stage, I give you a DJ Khaled performance as well as a DJ Khaled DJ set," he wrote. "I'm going to give Baltimore everything I have."
