Baltimore named one of top 25 cities to see holiday lights

Las Vegas and New York City's Times Square  might be known for their display of city lights year-round, but around the holidays — when communities around the country bust out their fake snow, LED Christmas lights and inflatable Santas — they might have some competition.

Real estate company Redfin has highlighted the top 25 cities (and top five neighborhoods) in the U.S. with the best holiday lights. And, coming as no suprise to any Charm City resident, Baltimore made the cut.

Redfin's list highlighted three neighborhoods in each city, which were listed alphabetically. For Baltimore, the site, of course, mentioned Hampden's Miracle on 34th Street neighborhood display, which is celebrating its 70th year.

Medfield, known for having neighbors with "yards full of lights" was also mentioned, along with Federal Hill, which hosted its sixth annual Federal Hill Holiday Decorating Contest this year (an award ceremony i is scheduled for tonight at Little Havana Restaurante y Cantina).

Despite Baltimore's impressive displays, none of our neighborhoods made the top five. (Hampden missed the cut after being named No. 4 last year). The top-five honors this year went to neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Rochester, N.Y.; Dallas; McAdenville, N.C.; and Cleveland.
