Larry Hogan's Facebook photo is cuter than yours

Gov. Larry Hogan's new Facebook photo is cuter than yours.

Gov. Larry Hogan updated his Facebook profile photo Monday, and it's adorable. And no offense to the new leader of our state, but it has nothing to do with him.

The photo adorning Hogan's Facebook page features the governor behind his desk, with his 2-year-old granddaughter, Daniella, peering out from beneath.

The governor was hoping to recreate the famous photo of John F. Kennedy featuring the president and John Jr., who peeks out from under The Resolute Desk, Hogan spokeswoman Erin Montgomery said Monday.

"I do think the governor had that in the back of his head when he had Daniella come up and explore the office," Montgomery said.

The photo was taken by State House photographer Rick Lippenholz on Saturday, when Hogan's only granddaughter and her mother, Kim Velez, visited Annapolis.

Montgomery said that Kim — one of Hogan's three daughters — and her family try to visit monthly.

The photo was one of a series taken — others are visible on the Facebook page — during Saturday's visit. Montgomery said the photos were the governor's idea.

The Velez family lives in Rockville, Montgomery said. Both parents are Army veterans — Kim was in the Maryland Army National Guard and her husband, Louis Velez, is in the Army Reserves.
