"Broad City" star and MICA grad Abbi Jacobson to tackle more serious subject matter in Netflix movie.
"Broad City" comedian and Maryland Institute College of Art alumna Abbi Jacobson will star in a Netflix feature film alongside actor Dave Franco, Netflix confirmed.
The film, titled "6 Balloons," explores the upper-middle class heroin epidemic. Jacobson will play Kate, the sister of recovering drug addict and father Seth (played by Franco), who has relapsed, according to Deadline.
Netflix has yet to confirm the film's release date to The Baltimore Sun.
The subject matter is a bit more serious than what we're used to seeing with Jacobson. She's best known for her Comedy Central series "Broad City," in which she and co-creator Ilana Glazer play 20-somethings navigating the (often hilarious) twists and turns of life in New York City. The show's third season aired this year, and it has already been renewed for two more.
