Celebrate National Doughnut Day Friday with free treats

Donuts, cronuts, wafflenuts - choose whatever you enjoy to celebrate National Doughnut Day on Friday, June 5.

But if you want it for free, you'll have to choose from these sweet one-day-only offers:

First up is Dunkin' Donuts, which is giving away a free doughnut of your choice with the purchase of any beverage on Friday, while supplies last. (Might be a good time to try the new Chips Ahoy donut pictured above.)

Krispy Kreme is also giving away a free doughnut of any variety.

And finally, the Maryland-based Fractured Prune is giving away one free OC Sand Donut, which is the honey-glazed and cinnamon sugar-dusted doughnut that pays tribute to Ocean City. (The deal is being honored at participating locations.)

National Doughnut Day was launched by the Salvation Army in 1938 to celebrate the women who served doughnuts to soldiers in World War I.

If you have a discount, savings promotion or sale that we should feature, send an email with details to shopping@baltsun.com. But remember, we only want the real deals!
