NBC News to host education forum in Baltimore tonight

NBC News is hosting a live forum on student support and youth development in Baltimore tonight, featuring local professionals and organizations including the Y in Central Maryland, Baltimore County schools Superintendent Dallas Dance and Baltimore City schools CEO Gregory Thornton.

"Supporting Our Students: It Takes Everyone" will be held at the Baltimore Museum of Art. The forum, part of NBC News' initiative "Education Now," will feature six panels on various education-related topics. In addition to Dance and Thornton, panelists will include Verlando Brown, founder of First-Generation Baltimore; Lt. Col. Melvin Russell from the Baltimore Police Department; and Michelle Becote-Jackson, the Y's senior vice president of youth development and social responsibility.

NBC chief education correspondent Rehema Ellis will moderate.

Registration for the event has closed, but the forum will be broadcast live on NBC affiliate stations across the country, including WBAL, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., and streamed online from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
