Snap up twice as many Black Friday-style deals as Amazon celebrates its 21th birthday with the second annual Amazon Prime Day on Tuesday, July 12.

This year, for one day only, members will find twice as many Prime Day deals this year with small businesses and sellers offering more than 30 percent of the popular "Lightning Deals" on electronics, toys, movies, sports and outdoor items, clothing, patio, lawn and garden and more.

New deals will be added every 10 minutes, and quantities are limited.

Hot deals include Amazon Fire tablets starting at $33, 2016 models of Samsung 4K HDTVs for $550, $15 off Amazon Fire Stick, $50 off Amazon Echo, 60 percent off athletic shoes, 50 percent off toys and small electronics and more.

The promotion is a way for Amazon to grow its membership. The company is using the sale and an ever-growing list of perks to entice people to sign up for Amazon Prime membership, which costs $99 a year.

It is offering immediate access to the sale if you register with a credit card for a free 30-day trial at Amazon.com/prime.

Members get 12 months of freebies such as two-day shipping on more than 20 million items, Kindle books, cloud space for photo storage, and instant streaming of movies, TV shows, and music.

That alone makes a membership worth it, considering many of us are paying more than $119 a year for Netflix, which doesn't ship detergent, dog food or electronics.

Also, members qualify for a service called Prime Now, which offers ever-expanding two-hour delivery to select ZIP codes in Baltimore.

Meanwhile, get ready to snap up cheap big-screen TVs and other merchandise and get a head-start on holiday shopping.

After all, there are only 165 shopping days left until Christmas.
