The Baltimore Sun

The early news in Baltimore is going to get more competitive starting April 9 when Fox affiliate WBFF-TV introduces a newscast at 5 p.m. anchored by the station's first-string team of Jeff Barnd and Jennifer Gilbert.

The station is now running "Judge Judy" at 5 p.m., with the Barnd-Gilbert newscast starting at 5:30.

"I'm going to change the lineup and run 'Judge Judy' from 4 to 5, and run the news from 5 to 5:30, and then, 5:30 to 6," general manager Bill Fanshawe said.

He explained that he is thinking of the the two half hours as separate newscasts even though they will feature the same co-anchors.

In other station news, Fanshawe said that news director Scott Livingston, who has been at the station since 1991, will be leaving next week to become vice president of news at the Sinclair Broadcast Group, which owns Fox45 and is headquartered in Hunt Valley.
