ABC won’t reveal the celebrity cast of “Dancing With the Stars: Athletes” until April 13 on “Good Morning America.”
But a few names have started slipping out.
Us Weekly reports that figure skaters Tonya Harding and Adam Rippon will take part when the 26th season starts April 30. So will snowboarder Jamie Anderson.
Rippon took home a bronze medal in the team event at the 2018 Winter Games in South Korea. Anderson won gold in the ladies’ slopestyle and silver in the ladies’ big air at the 2018 Games.
Retired skater Harding won renewed attention with the release of “I, Tonya” last year. Margot Robbie was nominated for the best actress Oscar for playing Harding, and Allison Janney won the supporting award for her ferocious performance as Harding’s mother.
The film explored the twisted saga of Harding competing in the 1994 Winter Olympics.
The marquee casting of Harding, Rippon and Anderson should help ABC draw an audience.
