Geoff Britten advances on 'American Ninja Warrior,' two other Marylanders miss the cut

Update (June 29): This story has been updated to include Nick Kostreski, another Maryland competitor.

Monday was a night of mixed results for Marylanders competing on "American Ninja Warrior," as Olney resident Geoff Britten and Jessup aerospace engineer Nick Kostreski advanced to the city finals while two Baltimoreans failed to make the cut — or the episode.

A crowd gathered at Frazier's On the Avenue in Hampden hoping to watch bartender Jason Hammonds compete in the Philadelphia qualifying round of the NBC obstacle course competition. But Hammonds didn't advance and his run wasn't shown on air. Baltimore firefighter-paramedic Nick Green, who also competed but didn't make it through the course, wasn't shown in the episode, either. And although Kostreski was one of the top 30 competitors who will move on to the next round, his run wasn't aired.

Britten's successful run, however, did make the cut. The freelance cameraman, who last year became the first American to conquer Mount Midoriyama in the finals but was edged out for the $1 million prize, earned a spot in the top 30 to advance to the city finals round.

Hammonds wrote in a Facebook post that he was sad his run wasn't shown, but filled supporters in on what happened.

"I did well through the first 3 obstacles then came the big jump off the trampoline I just missed grabbing the tube and I fell in the water," he wrote.

Green wrote on Facebook that he'd also fallen in the water, but seemed to be looking forward to trying again."Great time thank you for all your love and support and I will be back next year," he said.
