'The Vampire Diaries' recap: Episode 11, 'Our Town'

Hey, it's a party. Elena (left), Caroline (center) and Bonnie. (Bob Mahoney, The CW)

Tonight's episode of "The Vampire Diaries"was all about Stefan proving he could be a better villain than Klaus. And, thankfully, he did because I am sick and tired of Klaus being the villain (though that won't go away for long). In fact, I am sick and tired of this entire story line wrapped around Klaus.

I can only hope that the introduction of Meredith (the hot doctor from last episode) as a founder (meaning she's in the know about vampires) and a psycho ex-girlfriend (the end of the episode shows her human ex-boyfriend with a stake in his heart) will add some spice to the upcoming episodes.

So back to Stefan. He tries to see how far he can push Klaus, so he starts killing his hybrids. Klaus pushes back by getting the founder's council on his side (a peace treaty of sorts). Then Stefan pushes back harder, kidnapping Elena (Klaus' living blood bank for creating hybrids), feeding her his blood and nearly driving her off a bridge.

Klaus caves and so Stefan stops the car before turning Elena into a vampire (for those of you who aren't loyal fans, that's what would happen if she would have died with his blood in her system). Needless to say Elena's not happy (yet, like a pathetic woman I'm sure she'll forgive him later).

Caroline's birthday and funeral were both celebrated in this episode, with tequila, which is a must for either occasion. Tyler tells Caroline he loves her (how sweet) and then accidentally (well not really, his master Klaus told him too, but he thought he could deny the order) bit her while kissing on her neck.

A hybrid bite is supposed to kill a vampire, but Klaus (for still kind-of-unknown reasons, since he is the one who told Tyler to bite Caroline in the first place) decided to save the day. And before he does it, he even gives Caroline (who was depressed that she was celebrating a birthday as a dead vampire in a body where she'll be stuck at 17 forever) a sappy speech about how she's free to see the world … blah, blah, blah.

Jeremy leaves. Bonnie is mad that Elena compelled him to leave, but she doesn't tell him and lets him go. It was kind of a sad goodbye (I didn't shed any tears or anything, though).

Other highlights from tonight's episode:

Best Way to Remember a Kiss: Damon is in the shower, looking happier than we've ever seen him. Meanwhile, Elena is taking out her frustration (obviously sexual) on a punching bag.

Best Call Out:
"Suddenly you care who lives or dies," Alaric says to Damon, who responds: "I have a small list."

Most Romantic Moment: Clearly Damon wants to kiss Elena, and she tells him it's not right. He says: "I know it's right. It's just not right now."

Best Damon Quote(s): "These hybrids, they're really bringing the neighborhood down," Damon says after pulling a heart out of one.

Best Words Used to Stick it to Someone: "I don't really care what you think about me anymore, Elena," Stefan says, leaving her alone in the middle of the road.

WTF Moment:
Klaus gives Caroline a diamond bracelet. Is he trying to steal Tyler's girl?!?
