After last week's awesome "Survivor" Tribal Council, where David saved Jessica and sent Lucy home, David is regretting his decision a little. He's worried that he saved someone no one wanted to work with. But Jessica earns Ken's trust a little by telling him about the legacy advantage that she found at the beginning of the game.
The next morning (Day 13, if you're keeping track), everyone at the Gen X beach is madly searching for the Immunity Idol. It's hidden somewhere again because David played it. But as David points out, it's not great when everyone is openly looking — because someone might see you find it.
And sure enough, David finds a log with the tribe symbol on it, but he manages to play it cool until Sunday and Cece head back to camp. And he does, indeed, find another Idol. He's either really observant or really, really lucky.
Jeff gathers everyone together, and I'm about to call a challenge, but no, it's merge time instead. Looks like David found that idol just in time. And not only are they going to switch up the tribes, they are going to three tribes instead of two. Great, now I actually need to learn the tribe names.
Orange is going back to the Millennial beach, and will be called Vanua; purple is at the Gen X beach, and is called Takali. The last tribe is green, called Ikabula, and they will have to start from scratch at a new beach, but they'll get an extra tribe member. Still wouldn't want to be on it.
Everyone picks wrapped buffs, and Taylor is worried about being separated from Figgy. Oh, please, please let this happen.
Takali is Taylor, Figgy, Adam, Jessica and Ken. Crap. They're still together. Taylor thinks he's got it made since they have the majority numbers, but I think Adam will flip if given the proper incentive.
Vanua is Cece, Chris, David, Michelle and Zeke. Sucks for Michelle. She doesn't have anyone from her alliance with her.
That means that the new tribe, Ikabula, is Jay, Michaela, Hannah, Will, Sunday and Brett. Michaela is not happy about the new tribe — but it's all about having to start from scratch at camp.
Introductions are made over at the new beach, and a whole lot of confessionals about what Gen Xers and Millennials are like that I'm not even bothering to recap. But Jay is super happy that they've got the majority. I do worry about Brett and Sunday's chances of survival because they haven't exactly been dynamic players up until this point.
At Takali (old Gen X beach) Ken gives the Millennials the tour. Taylor is super happy that he's with Figgy and hugs her, and Figgy tells him to cool it for strategy reasons. He can't seem to grasp why it matters. But he can't keep from flirting, and it's annoying the heck out of Adam — see, what did I tell you. He's totally going to flip.
And Adam and Ken go for a walk and Adam totally spills the beans about what's been going on over at his tribe. (Doesn't mention the couple part). Ken is open to working with Adam (mostly because he has to).
Morning dawns on Day 14 at Vanua, and Zeke is in his bliss with the more mature Gen Xers, while Michelle is not too happy. Zeke and Chris are bonding because they're both from Oklahoma, and Chris played for Zeke's favorite college football team (and on the team that last won the championship to boot). So Chris takes Zeke aside and tells him that he's got a chance — Chris is ready to make a move and could use Zeke on his side. Zeke is fangirling so hard over Chris it's actually adorable to watch.
At Ikabula, they are having trouble making fire, and everyone is miserable. Jay gives up, so Michaela takes over. She does not give up, like ever. Michaela gets the fire going and things are looking a little better over at the new camp. Michaela is a little overwhelmed, and goes off into the jungle by herself and has a good cry.
Immunity Challenge time! They're out over the water on rafts, and they have to dive down, retrieve buoys and swim them to the next platform. They then get a choice to immediately start throwing the buoys, or to first take time to throw a rope hook thingy and pull the platform closer.
Sunday gives up on her buoy, which means someone will have to go twice (and circle back around to do it). Cece is also taking forever, so Takali is in the lead. David manages to lose his buoy once on the platform, and the rest of Vanua is incredulous.
Jay has to go back for Ikabula since Sunday screwed up, but he is making up time like crazy. Ken chooses to pull the platform closer, but has some problems sinking baskets. Ikabula is the second one to start shooting (thanks to Jay), and Michaela is awesome at this, quickly sinking all of her baskets. They win immunity.
Chris can't make the baskets at the longer distance, so he takes the time to lasso the platform. Chris is super frustrated, and Ken starts hitting baskets. Takali wins the second immunity, and it's Vanua that's going to Tribal Council.
So Chris is obviously going to be gunning for David, based on what happened the last couple of weeks plus his really horrible performance in this challenge. I don't think Cece's safe, either.
Back at the Vanua beach, everyone admits they sucked at the challenge. Cece is disheartened that she's going back to Tribal Council again, but at least she's got the numbers this time ... or does she?
Chris, Cece and David talk about getting rid of Michelle first because Zeke is stronger in challenges. Chris agrees, but he's got other plans. He wants to get rid of Cece. He goes to David to talk about it, which may be a mistake. Cece has been one of David's strongest allies. Plus David doesn't trust Chris.
David and Chris go and talk to Michelle and Zeke about getting rid of Cece, but Michelle doesn't really trust them. So she goes and talks to Cece about it. Michelle wants to get rid of David, but Cece's not really interested, and tells David and Chris about it. So now David's having second thoughts about keeping Michelle, especially since he'd be the weakest person on the tribe if Cece goes home.
Tribal Council time! Jeff wants to talk about how the challenge went wrong, but that quickly segues into who's going to be the key vote that can swing things either way. No one gives much information up, except for the bonding of the Oklahoma boys. Chris fully admits that he's been blindsided that last two votes, and hopes this vote will bind them closer together.
Michelle doesn't understand why you'd work with someone who blindsided you, and fully admits that she'd vote for David. I don't think it's going to be David, but I don't know whether it's going to be Michelle or Cece.
Voting time! David does not play his new idol when given the chance. First vote is for Michelle, second vote is for Cece, and so are all the rest of them (that we see), so it's Cece that's going home. She's shocked, David looks a little sad, and Chris looks vindicated.
Next week: Figgy and Taylor (ugh), and the challenge combines blindfolds and spinning with disastrous results.
