"Mad Men's" love of Baltimore is no surprise. Creator Matthew Weiner is a native and multiple members cast and crew have Baltimore roots (the series notably took a trip to our city in Season 3). And now you can add last night's hilarious LSD trip to the list of Baltimore shout-outs.
Sure, it's likely a coincidence, but both Peyton List (who plays Jane Sterling) and Bess Armstrong (who played Jane's psychedelic psychologist, Catherine Orcutt) went to high school in Baltimore.
List attended Roland Park Country School (though reportedly did not graduate) and Armstrong graduated from the Bryn Mawr School.
Wink-wink, Baltimore, says Weiner. May we suggest that every scene from now on involving 1960s drug experimentation must include at least one actor with a Baltimore connection?
By the way, Armstrong, who was born and raised in Baltimore, also appeared in John Water's Baltimore-set "Pecker" in 1998. Armstrong's husband, John Fiedler, produced "Pecker," as well as Waters' films "Serial Mom" and "Cecil B. DeMented."
In several interviews, List, who lived off Cold Spring Lane while living in the city, has proclaimed her love for Baltimore. A few years ago she told Baltimore Magazine that her "favorite memories were probably of Roland Park pool" and that she "loves the Ravens and every season."
She also noted that when she auditioned for Jane, the "Mad Men" folks loved the fact that she was from Baltimore.
