'Dancing with the Stars: All Stars' recap, Elimination after Country Night

Each couple (pictured above: Derek Hough and Shawn Johnson) performed to a Country hit song where the celebrity was required to perform a solo during his or her routine.

Last night was Country Night and I still can't get that chicken and train song out of my head. Curses.

Len praises Melissa's and Sabrina's performances, but asks for Apolo and Karina to perform an encore of their Viennese waltz.

Tom says that because of the presidential election next Tuesday, there will be no Tuesday night results show, and that they had intended to eliminate one couple at the end of Monday night's show next week based on the judges' score from that night and the fan votes from this week. But due to the number of people that couldn't vote this week because of the storm Sandy, they won't be eliminating any teams next week.

In their post-dance interview last night, Val joked that if fans keep them around, he'll show his "boobies." Kelly chimes in, "Me too." Ha! I am totally turned around on her from when she was first on the show. She seems like a lot of fun.

Emmitt & Cheryl are safe. Kelly & Val are safe, which is interesting. I now have no idea who's going home tonight.

Jason Mraz performs "I Won't Give Up." He's wearing a dumb hat, but the song is pretty. Mark Ballas and Chelsie Hightower come out to dance barefoot so you know it's all artistic and serious and stuff.

Derek has a neck injury and will be stepping out next week with Mark Ballas filling in to dance with Shawn. Blargh. Get well soon, Derek.

Derek, wearing a cowboy hat, brings out a Southern accent during his post-dance interview. You're from Utah, Hough, stop the posin'.

Gilles reveals he was very scared during his solo. Kirstie points a handheld fan to her face while her hair is being done. Who knew that hair actually received professional attention?

Shawn & Derek are safe. Gilles & Peta are safe. Maks pets Kirstie's hair as they await their results. But they're safe. I really have no idea who's going home now. It's one of the top half of the leader board from last night. A sneaky part of me hopes it's Sabrina so they'll shut up about what a "shocker" it was that she got eliminated "so early" in her first season. I never felt she had a good connection with the audience, and therefore didn't have a strong fanbase.

The Macy's Stars of Dance performance is what would happen if Sofia Coppola's "Marie Antoinette" and Wade Robson had a baby and then sent it off to train with Cirque du Soleil. So, flawed, weird and mildly entertaining.

Next week will be "fusion" week. The couples will get a song and have to combine two different dance styles in their routine. And they'll be picking these styles for each other.

Kirstie & Maks will be picking a dance for Melissa & Tony. And Maks tells Kirstie to pick "Tango/Cha Cha" which she does and then she smacks him for telling her to give her favorite away.

Kelly & Val pick Argentine Tango/Samba for Gilles & Peta. Emmitt & Cheryl pick Tango/Foxtrot for Sabrina & Louis. Where's the whiskey?

Apolo & Karina pick Quickstep/Samba for Kirstie & Maks. They're playing for keeps — Kirstie will pass out from that combo.

Melissa & Tony pick Tango/Paso Doble for Shawn and Mark Ballas (her substitute partner for next week.) Shawn & Derek pick Rumba/Samba for Emmitt & Cheryl. Sabrina & Louis pick Cha Cha/Foxtro for Kelly & Val. Gilles & Peta pick Cha Cha/Paso Doble (the only choice left on the board) for Apolo & Karina.

Taylor Swift performs her single, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together Again." Believe it or not, I've managed to avoid this song until just now. Whew. Taylor's still not a very strong singer live. And, lordy, you have to be as tall and leggy as she is to look good in pants with a waist that high and a hem that short.

Melissa & Tony are safe. So it's down to either Sabrina & Louis or Apolo & Karina. Tom is careful to point out that the couple not eliminated wasn't necessarily in the bottom two. I'm betting it's going to be Apolo, and that's why they gave him the encore dance.

Karina looks like she's about to cry. And then it's Sabrina & Lous getting the boot. See, I told you! She doesn't have the fanbase, no matter how much the judges love her. Stop being shocked that we keep sending her home.

See you next week for fusion dancing, "a swing dance marathon" and no elimination.
