It's a good day to be a fan of "Broad City," arguably the most refreshing comedy on TV today.
The Comedy Central series — which stars co-creators Abbi Jacobson, a Maryland Institute College of Art graduate, and Ilana Glazer — debuts its second season premiere at 10:30 tonight. And, this morning, Comedy Central announced "Broad City" had been renewed for a third season.
Before you binge-watch the first season to catch up (or to just laugh really hard), here's some recommended reading:
• The Sun's TV critic David Zurawik praised "Broad City" before its premiere last January.
• In March 2014, I wrote a profile of Jacobson that focused on her time at MICA. Her professors were not surprised by the success.
• Because there's no such thing as too much "Broad City" praise, I selected Jacobson as one of Sun Magazine's "50 Women to Watch" for 2014. She spoke briefly, in between shots for Season 2, about how the show has connected with fans.
• Today, Grantland published a longform "Broad City" feature by Rachel Syme (The New Yorker, The New York Times).
