Food and Drink: Special-Occasion Restaurant

Woodberry Kitchen 2010 Clipper Park Road, Woodberry, 410-464-8000, There is something about Amy and Spike Gjerde's restaurant that makes diners feel special. Even before your first bite, your senses reel. The romantic setting, a former mill, is bathed in warm light. Laughter and happy conversation rise and fall with the music. With a massive wood-fired oven at its center, Woodberry Kitchen just plain smells great. But there's something intangible, which you can think of us the Woodberry culture. "We've been able to attract people that embrace that culture," Spike Gjerde says. "We not only take care of our guest, but we take care each of other." -- Richard Gorelick
