B&O Railroad china

Chartered in 1827, the Baltimore & Ohio was the first U.S. railroad to offer freight and passenger service to the general public; in its heyday, no rail line was more loved. From Baltimore, it extended west to Illinois, north to New York and south to Virginia (nearly 6,000 miles of track in all). Passengers rode in style, as this fine blue china, used in the railroads dining cars and now in the collection of the B&O Railroad Museum, attests.
