Union Craft Brewing's new taproom opens tonight

Union Craft Brewing’s new taproom — located inside their larger manufacturing and retail complex known as Union Collective in Medfield — opens today from 5-10 p.m.

The Baltimore brewery announced the opening on Instagram this afternoon with a photo of the staff participating in a “celebratory shotgun.” Starting tomorrow, operating hours for the taproom are noon-10 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday and noon-8 p.m. Sunday, according to a spokeswoman.

The Union brewery will be the second business to launch at the Collective, which has been under construction since last year. The climbing gym Earth Treks was the first to open earlier this month.

Union’s new home, located at 1700 W. 41st St., is a major expansion with a larger taproom and outdoor beer garden that includes a colorful hand-painted mural by Maryland Institute College of Art grads Katey Truhn and Jessie Unterhalter. The bar inside has 12 taps, all attached to Union beers.

Union, makers of beers including Duckpin Pale Ale and the gose Old Pro, has operated out of a facility in nearby Hampden since 2011. The old facility is now closed for good, according to the spokeswoman.

Later this summer, other local companies including the pizza eatery Well Crafted Kitchen, hot sauce company Huckle’s, the Baltimore Whiskey Company, ice cream shop the Charmery and Vent Coffee Roasters will also open in the 138,000-square-foot, $14 million project. Opening dates are still to be announced.
