Baltimore’s CFG Bank Arena has added a show this August featuring Earth, Wind & Fire as well as Lionel Richie, adding to the newly renovated and reopened venue’s busy summer.
Tickets for the Aug. 19 performance by the prominent soul musicians will go on sale to the public next Monday after a presale this week.
The venue, formerly known as Royal Farms Arena, 1st Mariner Arena, Baltimore Arena and the Baltimore Civic Center, reopened last month in time to host the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association basketball tournament following a major face-lift. Several prominent artists and groups, including Janet Jackson, the Eagles and KISS, as well as Adam Sandler, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Lizzo and blink-182, have booked tour dates this year at the arena.
Richie, the former Commodores co-lead and “American Idol” judge, announced dates for the “Sing a Song All Night Long” tour with Earth, Wind & Fire on Monday. The R&B team will also perform at Capital One Arena in Washington on Aug. 18.
The “Easy” songwriter was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last year. Earth, Wind & Fire was inducted in 2000.
