Andre Royo moves beyond Bubbles and 'The Wire' at Maryland Film Festival

Andre Royo takes about 10 seconds to get to the crux of the matter.

And that, in a nutshell, is both Royo's career and his dilemma. So good was Royo in "The Wire," so heartbreakingly memorable and sympathetic was the always-down-but-never-out Bubbles, that audiences still shout out the character's name when they see Royo on the street. In their minds, he'll always be the junkie who was always trying to reform, but never quite making it.
