This drama which probes into the hardships and hopes of a crabbing family on Maryland's Eastern Shore received ovations when it opened at the Sundance Film Festival 2005. Emma (Tara Gallagher), an imaginative 11-year-old, needs an expensive operation. Her father, Will (Robert Knott), loses his boat and his family's livelihood. A disturbed and beautiful woman (Sarah Paulson) returns home to face her past, becomes Emma's confidant, and puts brothers Clyde (Shawn Hatosy) and Mike (Michael Mosley) against each other. As relationships are tested and dark secrets revealed, mother, Julia ( Cherry Jones), tries to hold the family together.
