Play Cafe in Hampden is closing this month

Play Cafe, a restaurant that caters to families with young children, will close March 23 after serving families in Hampden for nearly three years.

Owners Kathy Schott and Ryan Sterner announced the closure in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

“It has been an agonizing decision to come to, both because we love what we do and feel the love from all of you, but as many of you with young families can relate, other opportunities have arisen that are better suited for us at this stage of life,” the post read.

Located at 3400 Chestnut Ave., Play Cafe provides a kid-friendly menu and space for children to play.

The cafe has been on the market for several months, and is still for sale, according to the post. It was originally listed for $100,000, which would include the furniture, equipment, decorations, branding and menu. Prospective buyers can contact
