Peter's Inn launches GoFundMe campaign to reopen in August

Peter’s Inn, a restaurant and bar in Fells Point, is turning to fans and customers to help reopen after a fire closed the business in 2017.

On their GoFundMe page, the owners say insurance did not cover key costs needed to open the doors, like inspections and liquor license renewal.

“This September will mark 23 years that Peter's has been open. I know many of you have been regular customers over these years,” the page reads. “We've celebrated birthdays, first dates, marriages and even friends we've lost along the way.”

The campaign asks for $15,000 to open the restaurant by the end of August. Within two days, almost $4,500 had been raised.

By mid-afternoon on Wednesday the page had been shared 169 times, a hundred more than in the morning.

The owners, identified as Karin and Bud Tiffany in a previous Baltimore Sun story, did not respond to requests for comment.

The damage resulted from a trash fire in December, according to Baltimore Sun reports.

A picture on the GoFundMe page shows extensive damage to the front of the building, including large chucks of the door missing.

The Tiffanys bought the property in 1995 and created a cozy, 37-seat neighborhood spot known for its quirky decorations and 1950s-dressed waitresses.

Peter’s Inn is located at 504 S. Ann St.
