Baltimore’s first cat cafe will open its doors to the feline-fervent masses this weekend.
Charm Kitty Cafe is set to open Saturday at Whitehall Mill in Hampden. Serving cookies and coffee, the cafe will offer a place for customers to work in the company of adoptable cats.
All of the cats in the venue are available for adoption through the Baltimore Humane Society.
Based on support the concept received during a crowdfunding campaign, the cat cafe was a hit long before its opening. Founder Cam Tucker set out to raise $5,000 this spring for the cafe at 3300 Clipper Mill Road. His Kickstarter campaign ultimately raised more than $27,000.
Capacity is limited at the cafe, and reservations, which can be made online, are recommended. Reservations are available in 70-minute blocks ($10 per person on weekdays, $12 on weekends).
Cookies from Baltimore-based Dark Side Cookies and drinks from Zeke’s Coffee can be added to the reservation in advance or purchased at the cafe, which is cashless.
The cafe is also hosting an upcoming game night Oct. 12. Two-hour time-slots are available for the event for $15.
Guests to the cafe must be at least 7 years old and all patrons under age 18 must sign waivers.
