New tavern in the works near Birroteca in Baltimore

A new tavern is in the works near Birroteca.

A new tavern is in the works near Birroteca on Clipper Road.

Tim Conder, who owns the event production companies Conder Inc. and Charm City Crewing Co., is in the process of to get the yet-to-be-named space up and running at 1502 Clipper Road. He said he hopes to have the tavern open in late summer or early fall 2016.

The building had been occupied by a construction company that used the space primarily for storage, Conder said, so it doesn't require much demolition. Initial plans filed with the Baltimore liquor board show a bar stretching the length of the building on one side, with an otherwise open floor plan.

"For us, it’s a wide open canvas,” Conder said. "Because of its size we plan on leaving it as wide open as possible.”

Conder said he bought the building at 1502 Clipper Road this year after seeing nearby Birroteca's success, noting the proximity to Hampden and the available parking as assets that made it an attractive location.

He didn't have many details to share about the tavern yet, but he's working to transfer a liquor license from 909-910 W. 36th St. to the space, and incorporate outdoor seating and live entertainment.

The liquor board will address the liquor license transfer request at a hearing Jan. 14.
