Mission BBQ is opening a new location in Gambrills in March.
The local barbecue chain Mission BBQ is opening another restaurant in Anne Arundel County as part of a rapid East Coast expansion.
The restaurant is set to open at the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre in Gambrills on March 6. The fast-casual eatery at 2503 Evergreen Road will be Mission BBQ's 13th in Maryland and 43rd overall.
Mission BBQ serves a variety of smoked meats and sides with 10 barbecue sauces representing styles from throughout the country, such as KC Classic, Memphis Belle, Carolina Vinegar and Bay-B-Que.
The first Mission BBQ opened in Glen Burnie in 2011, and the chain now has locations in 11 states, from Florida to Pennsylvania.
Founders Bill Kraus and Steve Newton originally aimed to open 40 restaurants by 2018. After surpassing that goal, they are now hoping to have 80 restaurants open by the end of next year.
Other Maryland locations include Annapolis, Canton, Ellicott City, Owings Mills and Perry Hall. Mission BBQ's website indicates another new restaurant is slated to open soon in Rockville.
The Gambrills location will host charity nights leading up to its March 6 opening, including a military appreciation night 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 3, benefiting the USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore.
