Your odds of winning January's record Powerball drawing were probably better than your chances of nabbing the grand prize in Jimmy's Famous Seafood's March Madness competition. But if crab cakes for life sound worth the gamble, give it a shot.
The Southeast Baltimore restaurant is holding a contest in which entrants can submit their NCAA tournament picks online. Anyone who fills out a perfect bracket will win free crab cakes for life.
But since that's virtually impossible, the restaurant is also giving other prizes for those with a knack for picking winners.
Here's how the scoring works: entrants will receive two points for every correct pick in second round; four points for every correct third round pick; eight points for every correct pick in the Sweet Sixteen; 16 points for each correct pick in the Elite Eight; 32 points each in the Final Four; and 64 points for guessing the championship winner.
The entrant with the highest score will win a crab feast for 20. The runner-up wins a happy hour for 15 at the restaurant. The third-place prize is four tickets to an Orioles game. The person who places fourth wins four tickets to an NFL draft party hosted by Ravens players Steve Smith and Brandon Williams. The fifth-place prize is a two-week supply of meals from Jimmy's. And the sixth-place winner will receive one week of Jimmy's food.
Contestants can enter their brackets online, and entries will be accepted until March 17 at 12:30 p.m. And unlike most March Madness pools, there's no cost to participate.
