Rodney Henry headlines pie party at Creative Alliance

Well I reckon if you're going to throw a big pie-themed party in Baltimore, it makes good sense to have Rodney "The Pie Man" Henry on board.

Sure enough, Henry, the founder of Baltimore's Dangerously Delicious Pies, will be bringing his inimitable "Pie Style" to PIE at the Patterson, a pie-themed party at the Creative Alliance on Friday night.

Henry will be among the judges for the evening's centerpiece, a creative pie-making contest open to all guests.

Interested participants should let the Creative Alliance know in advance if they're planning to enter, as well as what kind of pie they'll be bringing. The pies will be judged, by both the expert panel and the audience, on creativity, taste and presentation. But otherwise there are no rules. It's supposed to be fun.

The building-wide event will include sweets to purchase from Dangerously Delicious Pies, Lucky Cup Espresso Truck and Dessert Fantasies bakery and ice cream shop, along with assorted other vendors.

There will also be mingling with the Charm City Roller Girls and live music from The Cold-Cold Heartbreakers, Sean K. Preston and Henry's 11-year-old son, Waylon James Henry.

More information about the contest, along with ticket information, is on the Creative Alliance website,

PIE at the Patterson is 7:30 p.m. at the Creative Alliance at the Patterson, 3134 Eastern Ave. Tickets are $12 in advance ($7 for members) and $15 at the door ($10 for members). For more information call 410-276-1651.
