Baltimore restaurants and bars respond to snow with specials, closings

The overnight snowfall has prompted a flurry of snow-day specials from some Baltimore restaurants and bars. Other establishments have announced that they will be closing for the day.

On Thursday, these restaurants and bars put out word that they were opening. But check back with the individual establishments to make sure:

Abbey Burger Bistro in Federal Hill tweeted, "SNOW DAY SPECIALS: $5 fireballs and $2 boh drafts!"

The Admiral's Cup wrote in to say that it was staying open until 2 a.m., with a live band.

Alexander's Tavern tweeted, "We r open! Pizza day!! HAPPY HOUR drink prices all day!!!"

Alewife tweeted, "Closed today due to this [bad] weather. See you all tomorrow."

Tapas Adela wrote in to say it was opening for dinner, until 11 p.m.

Annabel Lee posted this quatrain to its Facebook page:

We are open.
Hot food.
Hot, boozy drinks.
Mildly attractive, bearded bar staff.

Bad Decisions tweeted, "Getting ready to make a batch of my snowstorm hot chocolate. We will open at 2 today."

Bertha's Mussels posted this update to its Facebook page: ""Baby it's cold outside! House-made hot buttered rum and hot cider drinks $6. Kitchen is open!!! There's really nothing else like the warmth of Berthas!! Come play with us.."

Bluegrass Tavern tweeted, "We are OPEN and serving bar snacks, charcuterie, and BOOZE!"

The Brewers Art in Mount Vernon tweeted that it was opening at 4 p.m. and serving from it the bar menu.

Just before noon, Brewers Cask in Federal Hil tweeted, "We'll be open in about 5 minutes. Come get your snowday drinking on. Kitchen is open as well. #snowdayfun #daydrinking."

Chaps Pit Beef tweeted, "We're Opening up at 10:30 am #Snowmaggeddon."

Chazz: A Bronx Original posted this update to its Facebook page: “Chazz is Open! | 4PM | Thurs .. SNOW SPECIAL: 2-for-1 draft beers -Limited menu of coal-oven pizza, salad and desserts”  

Crepe du Jour in Mount Washington tweeted, "20% discount entire bill come in we have hot soup and hot restaurant I will make it very romantic all road are clear in mt Washington."

Just after 2 p.m., De Kleine Duivel in Hampden tweeted, "We are open. We have mulled wine, spiked hot cider and some great winter beers. Bring your own food or have it delivered."

Fleet Street Kitchen tweeted, "We will be OPEN tonight! Happy Hour is from 5pm-7pm. Come on down and warm up with us!"

The Food Market posted this update to its Facebook page: "$10 Burgers ALL NIGHT @ the bar (Pat Lafrieda & Double Bison!). Come grab a stool! #thefoodmarket #delicious #rundontwalk"

The Fork & Wrench wrote in to say it was opening for dinner.

Frazier's on the Avenue posted this update to its Facebook page: "Don't be silly. Of course we're open."

Golden West Cafe tweeted, "Yes, we open at 11:30 am today! Spend your snow day at the Golden West!"

Heavy Seas Alehouse posted this update to its Facebook page: "Heavy Seas Alehouse is open tonight and throwing a "Winter Storm" party starting at 4pm! First Beer ON us from 4 p.m-5:30 p.m."

Hudson Street Stackhouse tweeted, "OPEN AT 11AM - $2 OFF ALL DRAFT UNTIL 7!"

Jimmy's Famous Seafood tweeted, "We haven't closed in 40 years - you really think this snow is going to slow us down?"

Kooper's Tavern in Fells Point tweeted, "We are open! Belgian Beer day and Moules Frites in full effect!"

Langermann's in Canton posted this update on its Facebook page: "We are open!!! We are open for dinner service, bar side only, with a limited menu tonight. We open tomorrow at our normal hours. Thank you."

Liam's Flynn's Ale House tweeted, "North Ave. & N. Charles St. have been clear all day. We will be open for regular hours."

Mahaffey's Pub in Canton tweeted, "The kitchen will be open at 12pm with $5 burgers and chicken sandwiches all day!!! Have fun and be safe!!"

Mama's on the Half Shell tweeted, "Come enjoy your snow day with a Crush or some Oysters!!!! We're open ALL DAY!!"

In Mount Vernon, Midtown BBQ & Brew tweeted, "Hello from the Midtown! Stop in and get warm today with some beer and bbq. We open at 11! See you soon!"

Milk and Honey Market in Mount Vernon tweeted, "We are open- come get coffee and a bite!"

In Federal Hill, Mother's tweeted out this early-morning message to its followers: "We're open today for a #SnowParty! We have plenty of "soup" Eat. Drink. Play. Snow." Later, Mother's tweeted, "Not only are we open, we are delivering."

Mt. Washington Tavern posted this update on its Facebook page: "The Snow is Shoveled, The Beers are Served & the Oysters are Almost Ready. Complimentary Oysters, $3.30 Drafts and $4 Wine This and Every Thursday For Happy Hour."

Nacho Mama's tweeted, "We're open ALL DAY!!!! Come on over and grab some grub!!! It's just snow guys."

One-Eyed Mike's tweeted, "Happy Snow Day!! Come on down to One-Eyed Mike's. HH all day, great food specials including $5 Chili Cheese Dogs and Pork Roll Sliders. Cheers!"

The Point in Fells posted this update on its Facebook page: "The kitchen is ... open today! Beef and Budweiser Chili served in a fresh bread bowl, Steak and Eggs with home fries. Don't forget about the Meatball Sub and Steak Ciabatta! Its ALL happening at The Point."

The Rams Head group of restaurants tweeted this message: "Rams Head restaurants open today at 11 am! #snowday."

Riptide by the Bay posted this update on its Facebook page: "Trudge through the snow to slurp up some $1 ‎Oysters & $4 #‎OysterShooters today."

Ryleigh's Oyster tweeted, "Your Crush and Oysters are waiting sir! We have been open since 7:30am to serve the Bold Souls of #FedHill.

SoBo Cafe wrote in to say that it was opening at 12:30 p.m. for lunch and would stay open for dinner, too.

Sotto Sopra wrote in to say it was were opening for dinner.

Tapas Adela wrote in to say it was opening for dinner, until 11 p.m.

Towson Hot Bagels tweeted, "THB in Towson will be open today. Timonium and Canton will be closed. Stay safe everyone !!!"

Verde in Canton posted this update on its Facebook page: "Verde is open all weekend, but we may open the doors a few minutes late tonight. See you soon!"

Wit & Wisdom tweeted, "Rain, Shine, Sleet or Snow: we're always open."

Woodberry Kitchen posted on its Facebook page that it was opening for dinner on Thursdsay.

These establishments posted notices that they were not opening, at least for lunch:

Alonso's tweeted, "We will be closed today due to the [bad] weather. See you on Friday for Valentine's Day."

Amicci's in Little Italy emailed this message to its subscribers: "Sorry for the inconvenience of being closed today! Amiccis will be OPEN tomorrow for lunch and dinner. We look forward to seeing all of our Valentine's Day customers.  Call Amiccis tomorrow to make your reservations for the weekend." 

Blue Hill Tavern in Canton tweeted, "Stay safe out there friends! We will be closed today for lunch. Stay tuned for dinner."

By Degrees Cafe in Harbor East tweeted, "We will be closed today for business. Back tomorrow."

Cafe Gia in Little Italy tweeted, "Stay warm, stay cozy, stay safe. We're closed for lunch service. C'e vediamo sta sera! See you tonight!"

Charleston posted this update on its Facebook page:"We are taking a #SnowDay! We hope everyone is home and safe. We will be open tomorrow, February 14th for #Valentines Day!"

Cinghiale posted this update on its Facebook page:"We are taking a #SnowDay! We hope everyone is home and safe. We will be open tomorrow, February 14th for #Valentines Day!"

Clementine told its email subscribers it was not opening on Thursday.

Cunningham's posted this update on its Facebook page: "Due to the inclement weather, Cunningham's will be closed this evening. Sorry for the inconvenience."

Gertrude's posted this update on its Facebook page: "Gertrude's will be closed for lunch and dinner. Fingers crossed roads are clear for Valentine's Day!"

Hamilton Tavern tweeted that it was not opening on Thursday.

Hersh's Pizza & Drinks posted this update on its Facebook page: "Don't come beating down our doors tonight for pizza pies, Hershlings, because a) you'll get blown away by 35 mph winds; b) you'll get buried in *more* snow; and c) we ain't gonna be there! We'll be ready to show you some love tomorrow, on Valentine's Day, with His-and-Hers (or His-and-His or Hers-and-Hers, whatever you fancy) cocktails and a special dessert. See you then."

Highland Inn posted posted this update to its Facebook page: "Due to the bad weather we have decided to close our doors today. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and hope everyone has a safe snow day."

Johnny's in Roland Park tweeted, "We will close today for #breakfast, #lunch and #dinner. Have a great #snowday! We'll see you tomorrow!"

Kali's Court wrote in to say it not opening on Thursday.

Linwoods in Owings Mills tweeted, "Linwoods will be closed for DINNER tonight. Will re-open tomorrow for lunch at 11:30a."

McCabe's tweeted, "Due to the inclement weather and the safety of our employees . We will not be open tonight . We will open tomorrow at 5:00 pm with great valentines day specials."

Maggie's Farm posted this update on its Facebook page: "Due to the weather and road conditions, we will be closed tonight -- but plan to be open all weekend for the lovers!"

Mezze wrote in to say it not opening on Thursday.

Miss Shirley's cafes tweeted, "Due to inclement weather & for the safety of our employees - all three Miss Shirley's Cafe locations will be CLOSED today."

Mr. Rain's Funhouse tweeted, "We will reopen tomorrow for lunch followed by our Four Base V-Day menu for dinner."

Petit Louis Bistro tweeted, "#Rolandpark and #Columbia locations are closed today. Stay safe and warm! We will be #open tomorrow, Feb 14th."

Peter's Inn posted this update to its Facebook page: "Well fine folks, we are following the lead of the rest of the community and staying closed this evening. Be careful out there and come visit us soon. Cheers."

The Prime Rib is closing on Thursday.

The Rumor Mill in Ellicott City tweeted, "We will be closed tonight for the safety of our staff, but we'll be open promptly Friday at 5 for #ValentinesDay romance!"

Tark's Grill tweeted, "We will be closed for lunch today due to inclement weather.....thank you for your understanding."

Tio Pepe is closed.

Towson Hot Bagels tweeted, "THB in Towson will be open today. Timonium and Canton will be closed. Stay safe everyone !!!"

Victoria Gastro Pub tweeted, "We will be closed Thursday February 13th due to the storm. Everyone please be safe and come see us this weekend!"

Wine Market Bistro tweeted, "Shop is open! Bistro closed for lunch. We are evaluating dinner service."
