The Hampden ice cream shop that gave us the Ray Rice Krispy Treat, the "Crunch Davis," (a tribute flavor to Orioles slugger Chris Davis), and "The Heisenberg," a farewell flavor in honor of "Breaking Bad," is back at it.
The Charmery's latest limited-edition tribute flavor, which debuts on Wednesday, is the Legatron. It pays tribute to Ravens kicker Justin Tucker and his admirable performance in Monday night's game against the Detroit Lions. Tucker's six field goals in the game, including the franchise record-setting 61-yard game winner, accounted for all his team's points in the 18-16 win.
Tucker's heroics earned him not only some major fan love but also a new nickname, Legatron, a mocking play on "Megatron," the nickname of the Lions' heralded wide receiver Calvin Johnson, whom Tucker outshone on Monday night.
The Legatron limited-edition ice cream flavor, according to The Charmery's David Alima, is a "Dr Pepper-based ice cream with a cayenne kick."
Why Dr Pepper? Tucker's accomplishments off the field include singing his heart out in a video promoting the sugary soda.
The Charmery is at 801 W. 36th St. in Hampden. For information call 410-814-0493 or go thecharmery.com.
