Columbia engineers take chili prize

The gang at Praxis Engineering were the winners in Friday's Chili-4-Charity Cookoff in Columbia. Praxis won for its Victoria Station Farm-Fresh Free-Range 5-Star Chili.

Other competing teams included Basis Technology, Ciena, Collabra Space, Freedom Consulting Group, OPS Consulting, Proteus Technologies,  Sage Management and ADG Creative.

ADG hosted event, which raised $13,500 for the Howard County Food Bank.

Celebrity judges included Clarence Lam of the Howard County Community Action Council, Jason Routzahn, executive sous chef at Victoria Gastro Pub, Wayne and Kaydian Bennett, owners of Bennett’s Grill Food Truck and Joe and Mary Barbera, owners of AIDA Bistro.

There was apparently some trash talking in the days leading up to the competition with some heated online messages passing among competitor companies. A video created by Praxis featured two fictional ADG employees so distraught by their chili recipe they planned to get jobs at Praxis before the cook-off.
