I don't know how I could have missed Bill O'Reilly interviewing Nancy Grace Monday night. Oh, I know, that must have been when I was off dancing with the devil.
I have said a number of times that O'Reilly's mastery of TV is as close to that of Johnny Carson's as any nightly performer I have seen in my lifetime. Love him or hate him, you have to admire his skill as a broadcaster.
I have also said that Grace is essentially a plague on American television. I think I called her a vile presence at least once. Just last week, I wrote that, as I watched her famous "dancing with the devil" remarks, I understood in my bones why so many people hate the media. I have long thought she was a dark, nasty force in prime-time cable TV. With the Anthony case, she went totally off the rails in her Anthony coverage
So, last night O'Reilly reads her a few quotes from me, Steve Bill and James Poniewozik, the TV critic from Time magazine. Finally, another critic with a name as hard to pronouce and spell as mine. Check it out.
