Lindsay Lohan's awesome anti-Federal Reserve tweet was just an ad

Just when it seemed that Lindsay Lohan (yes!) was entering a political debate (yes!) about the nation's economic policies (yes!) it turns out Lohan's new-found political views were just a paid advertisement (lowest of lows).

For those of you not obsessively monitoring Lohan's Twitter account (really, people, what else do you have to do while you're at work?) here's what went down:

On Monday, Lohan sent out this awesome anti-inflation tweet: "Have you guys seen food and gas prices lately? U.S. $ will soon be worthless if the Fed keeps printing money!"

More than 100 people promptly retweeted it.

The tweet practically turned her (overnight) into a libertarian icon. It also caught the attention of Fox Business’ Freedom Watch host Judge Andrew Napolitano, who on Tuesday professed his love for Lohan.

“I love her!” he said. “A reason food prices have gone up is because we have too much money chasing too few goods … the natural reaction is inflation.”

Everyone was so excited. Libertarianism had finally taken over Hollywood! But it was too good to be true.

As it turns out, Lohan's tweet was not a reflection of her political views. It was just an ad paid for by the National Inflation Association (which is obvious if you actually clicked on the link in Lohan's tweet or read the hash tag #ad that accompanied it).

So, Lohan is not a libertarian. She's just a capitalist. Which is kind of the same thing, isn't it?
