Last night on his show, comedian Jon Stewart picked up on an important part of Monday night's debate: The "baby-off."
He played clips of candidates Tim Pawlenty, Herman Cain, Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney all pleasantly informing the audience of their number of children and grandchildren.
Stewart then cut to Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann.
"I've given birth to five babies and I've taken 23 foster children into my home," Bachmann said, introducing herself to the New Hampshire crowd.
"We have a winner!" Stewart declared to cheers and laughter from his audience. He then imitated Bachmann: "And I just want to ask everyone else up here on the dais, 'Have you ever had to divide a birthday cake into 28 equal pieces?'"
Stewart was joking, of course, but one shouldn't be quick to dismiss the importance of family values to GOP voters. Bachmann's raising of 28 children will undoubtedly be a plus for her when Republicans are making their decisions in the voting booth.
