When did Baltimore stop loving Phillips?

My recollection is that Phillips, a favorite of Ocean City vacationers, was the pride of Baltimore for years after Harporplace's opening. And then it wasn't. Is that the way you remember it?

Did you keep going to Phillips at Harborplace, or did you stop at some point, and why?

Update: I would love to hear from Phillips alumni.

I'm sticking to my theory, that we once loved Phillips Harborplace, and then we stopped.

But I'm looking through old clippings that the librarian brought over. I found John Dorsey's review from October 26, 1980, a few months after Harborplace opened. (Phillips, I just learned actually opened a few weeks before Harborplace officially did.

The title of the review is Hard to Explain Success of Phillips at Harborplace.

You can't argue with success, but I must admit that in this case I can't explain it either. Phillps may not be expensive, but it isn't what could be called cheap; it looks are undoubedly an attraction for some, but not for me; its food and service are best mediocre; and while some tables may have nice view of the harbor, where we were seated we might as well have been in Richmond.
