I was all set to give this week's "Wile E. Coyote Anvil of Reason" award to Ann Coulter for naming her new book about liberals "Demonic" -- literally demonizing her opponents. 

But then Wonkette went and posted this, wishing Trig Palin a "Happy Birfday."  

The classy people at Wonkette then had this to say about Trig: 

"What’s he dreaming about? Nothing. He’s retarded." 

This post was so insanely distasteful that it outdid even Coulter's book title in earning the "Anvil of Reason" award, which as you know is given to that person in the news most needing a brutal dose of cartoonish enlightenment. 

Wonkette's post has been so roundly condemned by sane people on both the right and the left that I don't really need to expand on their repudiations. 

Let's just say I've never felt better about giving anyone an "Anvil of Reason" award as I do now. Wonkette's Jack Stuef, the author of the above despicable anti-Trig Palin post, is the most deserving clown to ever get this award. Let's hope the anvil knocks some sense into him, lest he die still thinking that mocking developmentally disabled toddlers is somehow OK.
