While at sea looting other ships or discovering buried treasure, any pirate would say, "It's a pirate's life for me." But is it the one for you? Find out Saturday, as pirates hold Baltimore captive at the annual Fells Point Privateer Day.
Sponsored by Fell's Point Main Street, Privateer Day invites guests young and old to participate in a variety of daytime activities geared toward the whole family. Eat, sing, drink, dance and celebrate maritime history with the most daring and cunning of seafarers.
Learn the difference between a pirate and a privateer through live battles with the Valhalla Pirates, an authentic Living History Camp, dockside ship tours and cruises and original storytelling. Spectators can witness a mock battle at sea between the Pride of Baltimore II and a privateer ship. Endless activities line the streets from Thames Street Park and Ann Street Pier to the Bond Street Wharf. Performers will be dressed in pirate gear using seafaring slang.
Before the live shows start, kids can kick off the day rummaging for pirates' loot in a Treasure Hunt. Browse the many vendors, demonstrations and performances that will be featured. Older attendees can stroll over to the Thames Street Beer Garden in Thames Street Park and listen to live music by Pirates for Sail.
