Gettysburg Festival

Where: Gettysburg, Pa.

When: June 18-27

What: A 10-day celebration that combines diverse art forms while incorporating the historic backdrop of Gettysburg. The festival features live music, food, theater and art, with dozens of culinary, musical and artistic events scattered throughout the small town during the 10-day event. The festival kicks off with a live taping of the NPR classical music show "From the Top" with host Christopher O'Riley. Other highlights include:

•Kevin Eubanks, longtime bandleader for "The Tonight Show" and Pennsylvania native, will perform in one of his first post-NBC appearances, showcasing a wide range of music developed after 18 years performing on TV.

•A children's art fair with an "Alice in Wonderland" theme includes magic shows, live music and hands-on crafts.

•A culinary event featuring the cuisine of the North and the South. A Hallowed Feast, set for June 20, will be held on beautiful Seminary Ridge and feature dishes from both the North and South, accompanied by a Civil War-period brass band. Reservations are suggested.

What's nearby: The Gettysburg National Battlefield, which spans more than 40 miles of scenic routes and includes interactive historic exhibits such as the National Civil War Museum. The historic district also includes many quaint restaurants and bed and breakfasts, which offer deals for festival visitors.
